Key takeaways

  • A LinkedIn strategy should settle four things: positioning, audience, channel plan and the number it answers to. Anything less is a plan to make a plan.
  • The test: could you execute it without hiring the author? If not, it is a proposal in a different font.
  • Most LinkedIn work fails before anything is published, because nobody agreed what it was for and the goal got written afterwards to fit what happened.
  • Start from the goal and work backwards to accounts, message and measure. Then check the people you want are actually reachable before committing budget.
  • BG Capital's repositioning preceded a $127M transaction and NGS's targeting opened Walmart, CAT and Boeing. The decisions came before the publishing in both.

Most LinkedIn strategy is a free deck that exists to sell a retainer. noticed. leads this list because our strategy work is a separate engagement producing a document you keep, and can run without us.

What a LinkedIn strategy should actually contain

Four decisions. If a strategy document does not settle all four, it is a plan to make a plan.

  • Positioning. What the company should be known for on this channel, which is usually narrower than everything it sells.
  • Audience. Who is worth reaching, by name or by precise definition, and which of them are actually on the platform.
  • Channel plan. Who publishes, how often, from which accounts, and what happens to the people who respond.
  • Measurement. The number this answers to, agreed before anyone posts rather than argued about at the end of a quarter.

The test that separates strategy from a pitch

Ask whether you could execute the plan without hiring the person who wrote it.

If the honest answer is no, it is not a strategy. It is a proposal in a different font. A real plan is specific enough that your own team, or a different agency, could pick it up and run it.

We write ours that way deliberately, and some clients do exactly that. It is a legitimate outcome rather than a lost sale, and the willingness to accept it is what makes the engagement worth paying for.

Why most LinkedIn work fails before anything is published

Because nobody agreed what it was for. Someone decides to post three times a week and the goal gets written afterwards to fit whatever happened. That is why so much of it cannot be defended when budget season arrives.

Start at the other end

Not with output. With the goal, who has to believe something different for it to happen, and what would need to be true in ninety days for the channel to be worth continuing.

From there you build the account lists, the positioning and the channel plan, and you check that the people you want are actually reachable on LinkedIn before anyone commits budget to them. That last step is skipped more often than you would expect, and it is cheap to do.

What the method has produced

BG Capital's repositioning preceded 24 qualified family office conversations and a $127M transaction. NGS Engineering's targeting work opened Walmart, CAT and Boeing. In both cases the decisions came before the publishing, which is the entire argument.

For the execution side, see the main shortlist. For what any of it costs, our pricing breakdown.

How we ranked these agencies

Is it a real deliverable
Whether you receive a document you could hand to someone else, or a deck designed to sell a retainer.
Can you run it without them
A strategy you can only execute by hiring the author is a proposal with a different name on it.
Does it set a number
Whether the plan commits to what success is, before the work starts rather than after.
Named, checkable results
Client names alongside the numbers, showing the method produced something.
Scope honesty
Whether the consultant tells you what the strategy will not cover.
What they refuse to do
Whether the agency states a boundary at all.

Who this list is for

Companies about to spend on LinkedIn who want the decisions made first, and companies whose existing activity is not working and who suspect the problem is upstream of execution.

The best LinkedIn agencies: in-depth review

1. noticed., best for a written plan you keep whether or not you hire us

https://www.noticed.co

Strategy is a separate engagement for us, not a free deck that precedes a retainer. The output is a written plan covering positioning, the target audience, who publishes and how often, and the number the channel answers to.

It is deliberately something you can run without us. Some clients take the plan and execute it in house, which is a legitimate outcome rather than a failed sale.

The method is the same one behind BG Capital's $127M transaction and NGS opening Walmart, CAT and Boeing: decide the goal, work backwards to the accounts, the message and the measure.

Named results

  • BG Capital: a $127M transaction following repositioning
  • NGS Engineering: Walmart, CAT and Boeing opened as accounts
  • Hutchinson Engineering: 2M+ impressions and 150 decision-maker site visits

Best suited for

Companies that want the decisions settled before any money goes into execution, including those intending to run the channel themselves afterwards.

Where it falls short

We refuse to work outside LinkedIn, so the plan will cover one channel rather than your whole marketing mix. If you need a full go-to-market strategy across every channel, a broader consultancy is the right call. No published rate card.

2. Gripped, best for B2B SaaS demand generation

https://www.gripped.io/

Gripped is a London B2B agency working exclusively with SaaS, AI and tech companies past roughly £2m ARR. LinkedIn sits inside paid social rather than standing alone, alongside paid search, SEO, generative engine optimisation and website work.

They publish investment ranges openly, which is rare here: £5,000 to £15,000 a month, with most marketing leaders investing £8,000 to £12,000, on rolling contracts with three months notice. Published results include £1.3m of new pipeline in a single quarter from paid search and social.

Named results

  • £1.3m in new pipeline created in one quarter from paid search and social
  • 252% increase in opportunity value from Google Search Ads
  • 108% year-on-year increase in sales opportunities

Best suited for

B2B SaaS companies past £2m ARR who want one agency covering search, social and website rather than a LinkedIn specialist.

Where it falls short

LinkedIn is one channel among six. If LinkedIn is where your buyers are and you want it run properly, you are buying a share of attention rather than a specialism. Scope is restricted to SaaS, AI and tech.

3. Linkedist, best for LinkedIn audits and workshops

https://www.linkedist.com/

Linkedist is a LinkedIn-only agency running eight service lines: content, advertising, personal branding, audits, workshops, sales integration, and more recently ChatGPT Ads and generative engine optimisation. The spread is wide for an agency of its size.

Published case studies run to follower counts, post volumes and impressions. Detra Solar is the most detailed: 2,426 followers and 203,524 impressions across 75 posts over eighteen months.

Named results

  • Detra Solar: 2,426+ followers and 203,524 impressions across 75 posts in 18 months
  • CloudVisor: 2,000+ followers, 225 posts and 10 ad campaigns over two years
  • WhiteBridge.ai: 1,850+ followers and 34,963 impressions

Best suited for

Companies that want a LinkedIn audit or an internal workshop before committing to a retainer. The breadth of service lines suits a business still deciding what it needs.

Where it falls short

Published results are follower counts, post volumes and impressions rather than pipeline, revenue or meetings. No pricing is published, and the site does not state where the agency is based.

4. Tribal Impact, best for enterprise employee advocacy

https://www.tribalimpact.com/

Tribal Impact, based in Havant, specialises in employee advocacy and social selling: turning a workforce into an always-on channel rather than running a brand account. The client list is genuinely enterprise, naming ABB, Henkel, Pfizer, Qlik, Arup, Bosch, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Siemens, Panasonic and IBM.

Published results are individual rather than programme-wide. One Qlik account executive booked twelve meetings with target accounts and influenced €250,000 to €300,000 of pipeline in three months.

Named results

  • Qlik: one account executive booked 12 meetings and influenced €250-300K pipeline in three months
  • Named enterprise clients including Pfizer, Siemens, IBM and Salesforce

Best suited for

Large enterprises wanting to mobilise hundreds of employees as a channel, where the obstacle is internal adoption rather than content quality.

Where it falls short

Built for enterprise B2B organisations in complex markets, which makes it a poor fit for founder-led or mid-market companies. No pricing is published, and employee advocacy is a different discipline from running the channel for you.

5. Stop The Scroll, best for US B2B paid and organic together

https://www.stopthescroll.io/

Stop The Scroll is a US agency combining paid and organic LinkedIn. They publish pricing openly, from $2,950 a month with a $3,950 monthly contract minimum, which puts them among the more transparent operators in the category.

They also publish a ranked list of LinkedIn agencies using seven weighted criteria. It is a thorough methodology, though the agency awards itself a 9.3 out of 10 within its own ranking.

Named results

  • Published pricing from $2,950/month, $3,950/month contract minimum
  • Seven weighted ranking criteria published openly

Best suited for

US-based B2B companies wanting paid and organic LinkedIn handled together, with a clear published price before the first call.

Where it falls short

US-based, which matters for timezone overlap and market knowledge if your buyers are in the UK or Europe. Published client results are thin relative to the published methodology.

Frequently asked questions

What is a LinkedIn strategy?
A set of decisions made before anyone publishes: what the company should be known for, who is worth reaching, who posts and how often, and what number the channel is judged on. Without those four, activity has nothing to aim at.
How much does a LinkedIn strategy cost?
Few consultants publish a figure, and many give strategy away free to sell a retainer. A paid engagement should produce a document you keep and could hand to someone else, which is what you are actually buying.
Do I need a strategy before hiring an agency?
Not necessarily, but you need one before spending seriously. Agencies that skip it will produce competent activity aimed at nothing in particular, which is the most common way LinkedIn budget gets wasted.
Can I run a LinkedIn strategy in house after it is written?
You should be able to. A plan that only works if you hire the person who wrote it is a proposal rather than a strategy. Some of our strategy clients execute it themselves, which is a fine outcome.
How long does a LinkedIn strategy engagement take?
Weeks rather than months, because most of the work is research and decisions rather than production. The audit that precedes it can usually be done in days.
What is the difference between strategy and an audit?
An audit tells you what is wrong with what you have now. A strategy decides what you should do instead. The audit is usually free and often enough on its own to fix the obvious problems.
Should the strategy cover channels beyond LinkedIn?
Ours does not, because we only work on LinkedIn and a plan we cannot execute is a plan we should not sell. If you need a full go-to-market strategy across channels, a broader consultancy is the right shape.

Get a free LinkedIn audit before any strategy work

Before you pay anyone for a strategy, we will tell you for free what is wrong with what you have now. Your company page, your executives' profiles, what competitors are publishing, and the gap between them. Quite often the audit is enough and you do not need the strategy engagement at all. You keep it either way.
